In a pulsating Bundesliga encounter, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Niclas Füllkrug gave Dortmund an early lead, but Josip Stanisic's dramatic stoppage-time header earned a point for the visitors.
Dortmund, seeking to consolidate their hold on the top four, made a dream start when Füllkrug fired them into the lead after just three minutes. The striker met a superb cross from Julian Brandt with a crisp right-footed finish.
Leverkusen, however, showed their resilience and slowly began to gain control of the match. They nearly equalized on the stroke of half-time when Moussa Diaby hit the post, but Dortmund held on to their slim advantage at the break.
The second half continued at a frantic pace, with both teams creating chances. Leverkusen eventually got their reward in the dying seconds when Stanisic rose highest to meet a corner and power home a header.
The result extends Leverkusen's unbeaten run to start the 2023/24 season while denying Dortmund a crucial victory in their pursuit of a Champions League berth. Both teams will be back in action next weekend as Dortmund travel to Stuttgart and Leverkusen host Eintracht Frankfurt.
