Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby

Marilyn Mosby Sentenced in Mortgage Fraud Case

Former Baltimore Prosecutor Faces Time Served and Supervised Release

Details of Sentencing and Background of the Case

Marilyn Mosby, the former top prosecutor for Baltimore, has been sentenced to two years of probation and one day of time served after being found guilty of mortgage fraud. The sentence includes three years of supervised release and a fine of $30,000.

The charges against Mosby stemmed from the purchase of a vacation home in Florida in 2020. Prosecutors alleged that she falsely stated her income on mortgage applications to obtain a favorable loan rate. Mosby denied the allegations and claimed that she was a victim of prosecutorial misconduct.

The trial came to a close after a jury deliberated for several days. Mosby was found guilty of one count of mortgage fraud and acquitted on two other counts. The sentencing hearing was held on July 25, 2023.
